We designed this printer for ourselves and decided to share our journey in good faith. If you choose to replicate our project, remember that you're doing so at your own risk.
If you're new to 3D printing or building in general and at any point feel unsure or uncomfortable, it's crucial to educate yourself thoroughly about its risks and safety measures. Ensure you understand all aspects of the build and operation before you start. Don't hesitate to stop, do your research, ask for advice from the community, or seek out professional guidance. We encourage you to use our experience only as a starting point, and modify, improve, and adapt as you see fit.
Like any other do it yourself project, your build is unique, there will be differences on sourced parts, the way you assembled them, modifications, etc. So you should not trust it is safe to leave it ON unattended, until you conducted extensive tests on a safe and monitored environment. A DIY project can hide problems that might not be immediately obvious, for example a power supply that is under rated or bad quality might work fine for days before it fails catastrophically. A improper mounted hot end might work fine for a dozen prints before catching fire. A cable improperly soldered or terminated might work and eventually come lose and short.
<aside> 🧯 We do not recommend you leave your DIY printer printing or even plugged in unattended, unless you are sure it is safe to do so.
This is very important specially the first few dozen hours, do not have it near anything that could spread fire, like flammable liquids, curtains, paper, wood furniture. A garage with hard floor on a granite counter top is a good choice.
